ABC stops live Olympic radio broadcast

The national broadcaster announced that the end of the live radio coverage was due to budget issues and the availability of other formats in accessing content from the Games.
The Sydney Morning Herald later claimed from sources that ABC had problems managing staff assignments for the two-week-long event. The move ends a long run that started at the Helsinki Summer Games in 1952.
ABC News and Grandstand, however, will fill continue with daily updates. ABC had recently purchased radio broadcast rights to the Games from exclusive carrier Seven.
