Armsden joins The Bureau of Business

Justin Armsden (photo credit: Twitter profile)Former TV anchorman/producer Justin Armsden has signed on with PR/marketing agency The Bureau of Business as the head of its video production department.

The new job calls for Armsden to oversee the creation of various graphics and video materials to support the agency’s campaigns by applying his extensive knowledge of the media environment. He earned the assignment based on his experience hosting World Sport on CNN, shows on Fox Sports, and producing segments of A Current Affair in Victoria before running his own marketing communications business.

“I have spent a lifetime telling stories across all formats, which means I have a unique set of skills to bring on board. We will be producing the highest-quality videos that will appeal to a mass consumer market. It’s what I have been doing for a long time in various forms,” said Armsden.

“It makes perfect sense to appoint Justin and his team to The Bureau. This is truly an exciting time for us,” added agency director Sandra Aloi.

Rimington comes to ABC

Hugh Rimington is hitting the radiowaves at the ABC.

The network announced today that he will host ABC RN’s 7am show, Sunday Extra, starting on January 28, 2018. The show will also feature an extended panel discussion on the latest stories, called The Roundtable. The broadcast is Rimington’s first big hosting assignment since Ten released him from their nightly news show early last year.

“RN is the true home of the Great Australian Conversation. I know its listeners are passionate, smart and engaged. I can't wait to start,” said Rimington.

Maloon joins 9Kitchen

Natacha Maloon is coming aboard the Nine Network – 9Kitchen to be exact.

Maloon reported for duty after a year-long stint at Microsoft, where she served as online news editor. She will work alongside current 9Honey Kitchen food editor Jane de Graaff.

Meanwhile, 9Honey Kitchen deputy editor Katherine Scott has been reassigned to 9Honey Travel as travel editor.

Maloon has strong academic credentials, finishing BA Psychology at the University of Sydney and emerging with distinction from the University of Technology Sydney as a Masters of Journalism degree-holder.

Lee on Mail’s showbiz beat

Natasha Lee is back on the showbiz scene, this time as the Daily Mail Australia’s assistant showbiz editor.

Lee joined the paper this month, having previously been on break for three months. She left Yahoo! 7 Be in October 2017 after nearly three years, the last two as entertainment editor. Lee did broadcast reporting at SCA and NOVA Entertainment plus producer work for Sky News Australia and the ABC.

Lee graduated with a BA English Language and Literature/Letters degree from the University of Notre Dame Australia and later an MA English Language and Literature/Letters from the University of Sydney.

Staff tweaks up at Woman’s Day

Woman’s Day magazine is starting 2018 with some changes to its editorial staff.

The publication announced that current associate editor Erin Holohan is moving up to the deputy editorship. Entertainment editor Laura Evans will fill in Holohan’s former spot.

Madison Spira has been brought in as news and features writer, in-charge of real-life and entertainment stories. Megan Rowe has the call-up as news editor; she will be in charge of any pitches for stories based in real life.

McLean leaves ELLE

Sara McLean has stepped down from ELLE magazine.

McLean went into freelance work this month as a copywriter and content writer focusing on health, lifestyle, and beauty issues. She was with ELLE for all of 2017 as acting beauty and fitness director. The publication has not named a successor, but arranged for all correspondence to be sent to Janna O’Toole.

Except for an 18-month run as GRAZIA Australia’s beauty editor starting in 2015, McLean has been working for Bauer Media Australia starting with Dolly magazine as beauty editor in January 2011. She graduated from Swinburne University of Technology in 2010, earning a bachelor of media and communications degree.

Endacott goes into content marketing

Michelle Endacott has joined into the content marketing community with a new role at Medium Rare Content Agency.

She signed up with Medium Rare this month as an editor after ten years with the Bauer Media Group, where she was managing editor of The Australian Women's Weekly. She had previously served just as long with New Idea magazine.

Endacott is a BA Communication and Management graduate of the University of Central Queensland, finishing at high distinction in 1992.

Waddington starts at Nine

The new year has become a new beginning for Markeeta Waddington, this time at Nine Network.

Waddington joined early this month as an associate producer, with one of her first stories profiling two seven-year-old twin sisters whose striking beauty had left their mother inundated with suggestions about putting them into modelling.

Waddington came over from Bauer Media, where she spent most of the past six years in various capacities, the last being health and lifestyle editor at Yours magazine.
