Ironman Group buys Fairfax sports event portfolio

Under the deal, Ironman’s Oceania division will handle organisation of the Westpac/The Sun-Herald City2Surf, The Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon, Carman’s Women’s Fun Run, Melbourne Corporate Triathlon, and the Spring Cycle. Nine’s publications will still retain naming rights to the events.
Approximately half the employees from what used to be Fairfax Events and Entertainment – the sports event business’ parent arm – will join Ironman.
Some parenting shows and the sports event business’ smaller-scale events are to be discontinued as well.
