Lateline and the Link to go off-air
Friday, 06th October 2017 at 10:12am
ABC’s highly-popular current affairs shows, Lateline and The Link, are soon signing off at the end of their season, the network announced.
Under a new plan, ABC News will assemble a ten-person investigative journalism team and a specialist reporting team helmed by Jo Puccini and Lisa Whitby, respectively. Whitby’s crew will handle genres such as technology and science, regional communities, and indigenous affairs, among others.
Stan Grant, who hosts The Link, will be promoted to chief Asia correspondent and also host a new 9pm news discussion show. Lateline host Emma Alberici is now the network’s chief economics correspondent.
According to ABC News director Gaven Morris, the project is “a big investment in investigative, specialist and in-depth journalism at a time when many other media outlets are retreating from these areas."
