By Jonas Lopez in Media News on Tuesday, 24th April 2018 at 4:25pm
One of Studio 10’s mainstays, Ita Buttrose, is ready to say goodbye.
The veteran host stated that tomorrow’s ANZAC Day special episode will be her final broadcast and she will now spend more time with her grandchildren. She was one of Studio 10’s first hosts when it went on the air in late 2013, but had been making part-time appearances for the past two years.
“Ita is a true legend of the Australian media and a great colleague. Everyone at Studio 10 and Network Ten, as well as her many fans, will miss her but we fully understand and support her decision to step away from the show. She is, of course, welcome to come home to Studio 10 at any time,” said Network Ten chief content officer Beverley McGarvey.
Nourish magazine gets new lease in life
By Jonas Lopez in Media News on Tuesday, 24th April 2018 at 4:08pm
Lovatts Media has acquired food magazine Nourish from the former Blitz Publications.
Lovatts CEO Rachael Northey said the publishing house offered to buy the magazine after considering its potential value to the company’s health and wellness portfolio.
Originally designed for professionals who want to cook healthy food on short notice, Nourish will be repurposed under the Lovatts banner for sustainable living enthusiasts. While Lovatts is recruiting a new editor for Nourish, it is not known, however, whether anyone who worked for the magazine at Blitz will be offered the opportunity once more.
“I am delighted that Nourish Magazine has found a new home with Lovatts Media, who I’m sure will take the title to a whole new level. I wish the Lovatts team all the best with this beautiful title.
“The Blitz team are so proud to see how far it has come and look forward to seeing its further evolution with the new design on the shelves in a few months,” sai
ABC to can Australia Plus Chinese site
By Jonas Lopez in Media News on Tuesday, 24th April 2018 at 2:04pm
The ABC will shut down australiaplus.cn, the Chinese-language website of its Australia Plus news service.
Citing a network representative, The Australian’s Primrose Riordan revealed today that the website will be closed soon as part of a major service review.
The website was the product of a partnership ABC established with the Shanghai Media Group in 2015, and made accessible to users on the mainland.
However, it has received heavy criticism for not carrying articles critical of China, especially translated versions of major stories related to China that are available on other ABC outlets.
The biggest stories on the website as of yesterday for example, were about lighter fare such as Australian schools that have Mandarin-language classes.
