LEARN FILMMAKING IN GLADSTONE

Announcement posted by Capricorn Film Festival 09 May 2023

Capricorn Film Festival starts off the year with a filmmaking workshop on offer for emerging filmmakers of all ages.

Capricorn Film Festival in partnership Screen Queensland proudly present Filmmaker Workshop Gladstone, a short course educational opportunity for the Gladstone region’s emerging and practising film artists presented by Queensland film industry professional and Gladstone resident, Wezley Pitt.

Ever wanted to learn how to write a short story for screen? Or how to be a director, camera operator or Producer? Meet like-minded people and learn tips to make your very own short film for the 2024 Capricorn Film Festival.

This workshop is this and so much more as you learn entry level skills into the filmmaking process, from idea inception through to post production.

The workshop will be presented by Capricorn Film Festival mentor and filmmaker Wezley Pitt and will include hands on experience with equipment (camera, sound and lighting) breaking down scenes of a film, developing story and characters, acting, writing a scene, filming and editing.

We are excited to be offering this intimate educational workshop, which will give residents of all ages, hands on skills to make short films for the upcoming film festival and hopefully we might even open that desire in a few people to pursue a further career in the Queensland film industry, Executive Officer Luke Graham.

The workshop will show that you don't need a film camera and a big budget to make movies. Though, participants will utilise video equipment throughout the course, the festival educator will dedicate time to creating films with what you have at your disposal without all the flashy equipment professionals have.

It’s important that those people taking up an interest be shown how to utilise the equipment they have at their disposal, a great camera will not make a filmmaker, but an educated filmmaker can create high quality work with minimal equipment. Take for example your iPhone, it’s a great tool to develop your skills. Feature films are even been produced with them these days, Tutor Wezley Pitt..

The workshop will be held at Gladstone Central, on June 3. To book or learn more: www.capricornfilmfestival.com
