23 year old lawyer swaps law for ladders - Jim's Group's youngest franchisor wants young people to consider a trade

Announcement posted by Invigorate PR 03 Oct 2025

At just 23 years old, Gold Coast law graduate Skagen Fielding has taken an unconventional career path, one that has already seen him achieve a milestone few his age can claim. Instead of pursuing life in a courtroom, Skagen has become Jim's Group's youngest ever franchisor, leading the Queensland division of Jim's Window and Pressure Cleaning.

From law books to ladders

After completing his law degree at Bond University at just 21, Skagen realised he didn't want a future confined to a desk. Instead, he wanted to build something of his own. Investing his savings into a Jim's franchise, he quickly discovered the power of combining a strong national brand with hard work and entrepreneurial ambition.

"I knew I wanted to be in business and Jim's Group stood out because of its reputation. I did my research and decided to back myself and I've never looked back," Skagen said.

Rising to franchisor

In only two years, Skagen's window cleaning and pressure washing business grew rapidly, supported by his wife and a dedicated team. That growth led him to secure the Master Franchise for Queensland, cementing his position as one of the youngest franchisors in Jim's Group history.

As a franchisor, Skagen's role goes far beyond running his own business. He now mentors and supports a growing network of franchisees across Queensland, helping them build sustainable, profitable businesses under the Jim's brand.

Building people, not just profits

"Business for me is no longer about chasing money," Skagen said.

"It's about service, making sure customers are happy, ensuring my staff are treated well and supporting my franchisees so they achieve their goals. If they succeed, we all succeed."

That mindset has already won him respect within Jim's Group. Founder Jim Penman praised Skagen's leadership and commitment.

"Skagen is an impressive young man with a great work ethic. He understands that business is about service. Everything we do at Jim's Group is about service," Penman said.

"He wants to help and serve people. Not just his customers but also his team. He already has nine franchisees in Queensland and he is determined to ensure they have his full support to grow and thrive as well.

"In the last week alone, I've had two franchisees write to tell me how much he has helped them in their new business.

"This is what franchising is all about. We are excited to be attracting such wonderful young people to our group as they are the future of our group and franchising in Australia and around the world."

The future of franchising

Skagen believes Jim's Group offers a unique platform for young Australians to take control of their future.

"Jim's gives everyday people the opportunity to build something real using a system that's been refined for over 40 years. With the right drive and ambition, you can create financial freedom and a life you love," he said.

From law school graduate to franchise leader, Skagen represents a new generation of entrepreneurs embracing franchising as a pathway to business ownership, success and long-term growth.
