SYDNEY: PR and communications agency Popcom has announced a new pro bono partnership with Women's Housing Company (WHC), a not-for-profit organisation providing safe, affordable homes and support for women and children across New South Wales.
With over 40 years of experience, WHC supports more than 2,000 women and children each year and manages over 1,200 properties in NSW. Women remain the largest group of clients accessing specialist homelessness services nationally, with family and domestic violence the leading driver of presentations, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
Under the partnership, Popcom will deliver a 12-month program of PR strategy, proactive media relations, spokesperson support, and campaign counsel for WHC. This includes storytelling support for WHC's Her Voice, Purposeful Pathways, PathForward and Women for Women programs, and communications around key fundraising moments.
Popcom Founder/Director Amanda Lacey said that this partnership is designed to highlight the importance of providing a secure foundation for women and their families, and also help them to rebuild their lives in a safe environment.
"Domestic and family violence is one of the biggest contributors to homelessness for women and children in Australia, and WHC plays an absolutely crucial role in helping women to escape violent situations and support their independence through housing, education, and community.
"We're honoured to work alongside the dedicated team at WHC at a time when their growth is more important than ever," Lacey said.
Women's Housing Company CEO Nada Nasser said, "Women's homelessness is one of the most under-reported housing issues in Australia, women and children experiencing it are too often invisible in this conversation. This partnership with Popcom means we can put a spotlight on the scale of the issue, and on the impact our services have for women and families every day."
