Announcement posted by RIMPA Global 12 Aug 2026
This year's challenge asks teams to explore:
How can information management help organisations guard against bias, misinformation and disinformation in an AI-enabled world?
As AI becomes increasingly embedded across organisations, its ability to create and distribute information at scale is introducing new risks to information quality, authenticity, accountability and trust.
Hackathon teams will be challenged to develop an innovative solution using information management skills, practices, standards and protocols. Solutions could include a methodology, strategy, protocol, digital tool concept, algorithm or an entirely new approach.
The Hackathon starts on Monday, 19 October 2026 at Royal Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, with teams given 24 hours to develop their solutions.
Finalists will present on Tuesday, 20 October, before the winning team is announced at the RIMPA Live 2026 Diamond Ball on Wednesday, 21 October, in front of more than 500 industry professionals.
The Hackathon is free to enter and open to anyone passionate about problem-solving, including information management practitioners, students, developers, engineers, data scientists and industry vendors.
First Prize: $10,000 AUD
Submissions close: 12 October 2026
