Ian Factor of Factor Design’s latest inspiration has been to add to his furniture range two new pieces created from Bamboo Plywood, a highly sustainable, renewable and unique product. Maintaining his distinctive style these innovations in bamboo show a retro influence overlaying a contemporary canvass, uniting exquisite detail with superb craftsmanship. Each piece has established its own unique personality.
Bamboo Desk indicated the start of Ian’s adventure with bamboo, though it has been quickly followed by the fun and functional Zag Mag. The introduction of bamboo into the Factor Design furniture range is reflective of Ian’s philosophy to find and use sustainable materials coupled with his obsession and love for making beautiful furniture…
“Each piece I design has to engage me emotionally, I have to look at it and feel happy that it exists.
My creations need to have a calming effect; from simple elegant proportions, lack of superfluous detail to a bright splash of colour.
Just as important, each of my designs have to be crafted from ethically sourced and sustainable materials.”
Bringing his designs to life as a comprehensive range, Ian has just released his 2012 Look Book, detailing his complete design repertoire to date, as well as his take on bespoke furniture, sustainable and ethical design and the benefits of hand-crafted furniture.
