SPAA appoints Shed Media to manage public relations

The SMSF Professionals' Association of Australia (SPAA) has appointed the specialist financial services public relations firm, Shed Media, to enhance its efforts to promote higher standards in the SMSF sector, increase its public profile and help attract new members to the association.

SPAA chief executive Andrea Slattery said: “SPAA is the pre-eminent professional body, acknowledged thought leader for the SMSF sector, and is focussed on developing best practice, competent advice and higher professional standards for the industry.

“Integrated financial services for SMSF clients and trustees are delivered by a range of professional advisors that include accountants, auditors, lawyers, financial planners, risk providers, actuaries, administrators and educators, and we believe promoting greater public awareness of this critical sector of the superannuation space through external communications is important.

“We will be working closely with Shed Media to present a strong voice on issues affecting all professionals working in the SMSF industry, both in terms of advocacy with government and across all media.”

Shed Media Account Director Nicholas Way said:  “SMSFs are the fastest growing sector in the superannuation industry with about 2500 new accounts being set up every month, and with funds under management of about $460 billion.

“With such rapid growth comes enormous challenges, and as such it will be Shed Media’s goal to ensure SPAA’s views continue to be heard on behalf of the SMSF sector.”
