globalone partner with VMware, Dell and Meru to host inaugural VDI in Education seminar

globalone recently partnered with VMware, Dell and Meru to host their inauguralVDI in Education seminar. The event, held at the RACV Club in Melbourne, was dubbed a success by John Kara, CEO of globalone, who now plans to run further events in July and August 2012.

The seminar attended by ICT Managers, and Adminstrators from fifteen Victorian Independant and state schools explored a number of key IT challenges such as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and Anywhere, Anytime, & Any device computing.

“During the seminar we gave schools an introduction to Desktops & Application Virtualisation, as well as a glimpse of the future of end using computing” explained John Kara. He continued “utlising VMware View 5.0 , Dell Backend infrastructure and Meru Wireless, we set-up a live demonstration showing how services can be shard across multiple devices, including running a Windows operating system on an Apple iPad and Dell Latitude ST. ”

The seminar also included sessions fromBen Verghese, Manager of Educational Resources, Lavalla Catholic College andGeorge Mattar, IT Manager, Hampton Park Secondary College who provided great insight and opinion on how the transition to a VDI solution and the positive learning effects this had on their respective college and school.
