Harbour City Opera announces it's first season!

Sydney set to sparkle with launch of exciting new Opera Company

Sydney, Australia – Sydney is set to sparkle with a new brand of Opera Company for the Sydney Arts scene following the announcement of Harbour City Opera's Creative Director and Opera Singer, Sarah Ann Walker.

Harbour City Opera, with an Illustrious board of Australian Patrons including Brian Castles-Onion (currently Conducting the spectacular "Carmen" on Sydney Harbour with Opera Australia), Sharolyn Kimmorley, Glenn Winslade and Christine Douglas, has announced they will launch the Company with a concert on the 14th April featuring some of Sydney's most exciting vocal talent.

This dazzling new company with a team as passionate as the operas they produce, certainly aren't new to the Sydney art's scene and neither are some of the fantastic voices Harbour City Opera are employing this year. HCO is dedicated to providing exquisite performance opportunities to both well known and established performers as well as those up and coming singers looking for their big break singing repertoire that they'll use regularly throughout their careers.

"With the focus of most of the smaller opera companies around Sydney being towards lesser known Chamber works or modern compositions, there has been less space for singers to get some of those necessary and more well known roles under their belts in performance settings" says Creative Director, Sarah Ann Walker "Part of what we want to provide is the opportunity to get those roles learned, coached, performed and onto the CV. In this Industry experience is often the first thing an Agent or Company will look at, so if there is nothing on the CV, the application is put aside and sometimes, for some voices, the experience is harder to get, so, with the help of Opera lovers, Industry professionals, Donations, Grants and a lot of hard work, that's exactly what we will do".

A company which is also heavily involved in and passionate about Philanthropic activities, Harbour City Opera also plans to work with community groups to help bring opera to a wider audience throughout Sydney.
