Once again creativity hits Daylesford with a boom and this time it’s staying!
The Daylesford Art Show is calling for entries from artists to enter this year’s show taking place over Melbourne Cup Weekend at Daylesford Town Hall. There are 5 categories including a new entry for ‘Best work by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island Artist’. This year the art show has grown to include exhibitions from ClaySpace co-ordinated by Petrus Spronk and sculptures from artists such as Stefan Nechwatal of Paradiso Art at Sailors Falls.
The Daylesford Art Show has now become part of a new and exciting 12 month arts program – Art Daylesford, which is run by a new committee focused on working with artists and the local community to support artists in the area by encouraging and facilitating exhibitions, interactions and community involvement. Youth will be a big focus through promoting the art of the youth of the area.
Commented Jan Pengilley – Chairperson of Art Daylesford and President of Daylesford Rotary Club “This year’s Art Show, the fourth since we took over its running, is the start of our new annual program Art Daylesford . Our aim is not only to provide a high quality annual showcase for the work of local artists but to create a hub where year round the wide diversity of art in our local community and especially young artists can be celebrated and encouraged.“
