Humble Investors - The Website That Connects Investors With Advisers

Announcement posted by Humble Investors 21 Aug 2013

Bringing Australian investors the news they need - direct from professional financial advisers
Colin Williams, Director of Humble Investors announces a new website for Australian investors.

Finding investment information over the web is surprisingly difficult for Australian investors. Most existing investment websites are dominated by major institutions that tend to look the same, and investors often view them as another channel for the institution to pitch their own products and services.

Humble Investors began in February 2013. “The goals for the website are simple,” said Mr Williams. “The website aims to deliver great ideas and opportunities for the Aussie investor direct from a range of financial advisers”.

The content at Humble Investors is timely and it reflects the real issues facing Australians today as witnessed by financial advisers when talking to their clients. For example, some of the recent topics covered include:

The cost of divorce
10 reasons how a financial adviser helps a client
How investors can manage the recent RBA interest rate cuts - both as a mortgage holder and as someone who relies on bank deposits for income.

The unique content and updates are sourced from financial advisers regardless of the organisation that the adviser may work for. This allows Humble Investors to provide a balanced view of the issues that are affecting all Australian investors.

Through Humble Investors, the visitor can simply ‘click and connect’ with a financial adviser who appears at the website. It’s a great opportunity to review advisers from all over Australia. Visitors to the website are already showing a willingness to connect with the advisers.

“What we’re finding in today’s digital world is that geographical boundaries are a thing of the past - if you want to talk to an adviser you no longer have to make the physical trip to the adviser’s office. You can just click through and have a chat via Skype, Google Hangouts and FaceTime,” Mr Williams said.

“After all, people are using these platforms with family and friends all over Australia and the world, so why not connect the same way with the adviser of your choice?”

Humble Investors are also making great use of social media with a Facebook page that’s growing in popularity, along with Twitter (@humbleinvestors) and Google Plus. Australian investors are taking to these social media platforms as a means of staying up-to-date with the investment news of the day. Our weekly reach on Facebook will often exceed 50,000 and our ‘tweets’ will regularly hit over 150,000 Twitter accounts.

The Google Hangouts platform has been used to record discussions with financial advisers on topical issues such as the Federal Budget and Self Managed Superannuation Funds. Twitter has been used to ‘crowd-source’ adviser opinions to the latest changes to superannuation and the latest interest rate cut.

Humble Investors is a growing resource for the Australian investor. “We often talk about our website as the ‘shopping centre’ for investors, as we have a great range of helpful articles, views and opinions from across section of Australian financial advisers” Mr Williams said.
