Announcement posted by Hired.com.au 29 Jan 2014
Hired.com and Sequoia Capital, the venture capital firm that backed Apple, Google and LinkedIn, have joined forces to provide Australian developers with a clear path to working at some of the fastest growing start-ups in the world. This initiative is the first of its kind.
CEO of Hired.com and former founder of Sitepoint and 99designs Matt Mickiewicz says many Australian engineers have the skill and desire to work in the United States but don’t know how to get there.
“Our career fair removes much of the friction by connecting them directly with leading startups that want to hire them and are committed to sponsoring their visa” he said.
Some of Silicon Valley’s top companies, including Airbnb, Eventbrite and Stripe, are ready to make offers to international applicants in Hired.com’s unique online recruitment marketplace, which has successfully placed hundreds of developers into many of the world’s most successful businesses.
The program is best suited for iOS and Android developers, and programmers who work in Python and Ruby on Rails. Hired.com and Sequoia will match the engineers with jobs, set up interviews and, if they receive an offer, streamline the paperwork.
Applicants must:
- Have a Computer Science degree or equivalent to meet visa requirements.
- Possess developing skills in Android, iOS, Ruby and/or Python.
- Successfully complete a coding assessment to be sent upon submission.
- Be willing to relocate to the United States on a full-time basis.
The program is open now and submissions are accepted until February 2014.
