This Australian owned and run company have become the first company in Australia to receive AFRDI’s Green Tick Certification for an aluminium banquet chair.
Nufurn’s Caversham Status Banquet Chair has been awarded this sustainability accreditation at Gold Level standard, further building upon their established Green Policy and highlighting the company’s dedication to providing quality commercial furniture to Australia and beyond. Gavin Krawchuk, Managing Director at Nufurn, said:
“As a company, we’re committed to continually reducing our carbon footprint and this is simply another step for us in achieving that goal as well allowing us to offer our customers a broader choice of sustainable products.’
Their commitment to ethical furniture production comes in many forms. From creating products with absolute durability in mind and purchasing wood from Forest Stewardship Council Land where possible to rehoming or reusing chairs that have passed their optimal aesthetic lifespan.
The Australasian Furnishing Research and Development Institute (AFRDI) define good sustainability practices within furniture manufacturing as:
“[including] the ethical sourcing of raw materials, responsible use of water and energy, waste minimization and, through better furniture design, the efficient use of raw materials – by extending a product’s working life and its recyclability”
This is evident in Nufurn’s Banquet Chair range which boasts unsurpassed durability with regards to both frame, upholstery and manufacturing elements, reducing the need to continually replace commercial furniture and thus creating less waste and demand on materials. Their official policy states:
“We understand that producing any product draws on our earth’s natural resources. By offering great quality products, including a 1 to 12 year commercial warranty on our products, we aim for reduce the burden on the environment [...] Our environment objective is to reduce pressure on the environment by producing high quality furniture, reducing therewith the need for excessive resources and take a whole of lifecycle approach through reuse and recycling.”
