The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA), http://mmaglobal.com/, the premier trade organisation devoted to the development of the mobile marketing industry, is calling for entries in the first ever Australia/New Zealand SMARTIES Awards http://www.mmaglobal.com/smarties.
The MMA SMARTIES is the only global awards program devoted to mobile advertising, recognising creativity, innovation and strategic thinking since 2004.
Australia joins Indonesia, China, India and Vietnam in rewarding the accomplishments of the region’s mobile marketers.
Marketers are expected to spend $540 billion globally on advertising this year, a 4.6% increase over 2014, according to a report by media-agency Carat.
Australian ad spending increased by 1% in 2015 and is expected to climb 1.5% year-over-year in 2016, according to the report.
Spending on digital media will make up 24% of global advertising expenditures, the report predicted, making it the second highest medium after television (42.2) and considerably higher than newspapers (12.8), magazines (6.9), radio (6.6), cinema (0.5) and outdoor (7.1).
The report points to a 50% increase in global mobile-ad spending and a 22% boost in global online video budgets as the primary reasons.

The SMARTIES Awards recognise strategic, insights-driven communications, cross platform campaigns, and creativity and technological prowess in mobile advertising. They are judged by panels comprising of senior brands marketers and distinguished agency leaders with awards given out in a total of 21 categories across the following areas: Marketing Strategy, Channel/Media Strategy, Enabling Technologies, Creative Awards and Overall Industry Awards.
