Internationally respected allergist and immunologist, Professor Pete Smith is the Medical Director who will lead the local Sydney team of specially trained GPs, nurse practitioners, nurses and dietitians. He is available for interview from Friday 29 January.

From food allergy to relentless hay fever, eczema and food intolerance, Professor Pete and his team are making a real difference to Australians living with allergy.

“Our aim to reduce waiting times and provide complete allergy care to people at risk and suffering,” says Professor Pete.

New patients don’t need a referral and the clinic commits to making first appointments happen within a couple of weeks. During the initial appointment the patient will undergo clinical testing leading to a diagnosis or ongoing care by the team of specially trained nurse practitioners and dietitians.

Under Professor Pete’s guidance, the clinic’s new generation of GPs and clinical staff lead the way in allergy care.

“We pride ourselves on helping people living with allergy every day to get well sooner rather than later with one-on-one education, training and support. We’re the only Australian clinic to provide this level of ongoing treatment,” says Professor Pete.

Professor Pete notes the rapid acceleration of allergies is evidenced all around us, especially with the 700 per cent increase in hospital admissions of children with anaphylaxis in the last 15 years. Now, there are EpiPens in almost every NSW classroom.

Identifying the cause of allergy is the first step in finding a cure and this Professor Pete to continue his research, share insights worldwide and deliver the best service for complete allergy care in Australia at Allergy Medical Double Bay and Newstead.
