Award-Winning Zev Howley presents a new documentary The Enlightened State of Tara – unfunded, unscripted, candid and raw film grabs taken at different intervals over a 7 year period.

July 4th:  Award-Winning Filmmaker, Writer, Producer, Director Zev Howley, is no stranger to the creative arts scene. His parents John and Rachel Howley were actively involved in building St Kilda's arts community back in the early 80's. Growing up in Acland St Art Gallery, Zev was inspired by the life of art and culture that surrounded him. Zev's collaboration with other filmmakers including Lesley Sharon Rosenthal on the “Boobaleh Bagela”, a award-winning documentary, Zev has produced and directed many documentaries including his own “Working for the Man – From Drags to Riches” (2001), “Raiders of a Lost Art”, (screened at the St Kilda Festival 2002),  “City of Goths (2002)” and “Who is the Sonic Manipulator?” (2005), screened at The Big West Festival and the Melbourne Underground Film Festival in 2006. Zev also directed and wrote “Broken Superman” (2012) winning best film at Connect Film Festival in Melbourne and was also screened in Los Angeles. His most recent film, also as a writer and director “Walkman” (2015), won Best Film of the year at Comfy Shorts.

Filmmaker, Writer, Producer and Director Zev Howley says, “Filmmaking as in producing and directoring to me I believe, is one of the highest forms of creativity. It's collaborative, rewarding and healing. This is why I continue to pursue this path.”

Howley's next documentary The Enlightened State of Tara is unfunded, unscripted candid, raw film grabs, taken at different intervals over a seven year period, making up this inspiring 40-minute documentary. 'Green Tara' the making of a life size statue of the Tibetan Deity, was requested by Buddhist Monks, and was made in dedication without fee by multi-disciplined artist Barbara McLean. McLean is best known for sculpting the 38 Bronze portraits of Australian Tennis Champions housed at the Rod Laver Arena. McLean is an internationally recognised artist.

The special screening of this documentary at Lido Cinema, can only take place upon reaching the  “tipping point” with a minimum 59 tickets to be sold priced at $20 per ticket, with all tickets to be purchased by July 20th 2016. All profits from this screening will be directed to the Kopan Monastery in support of their caring for the earthquake victims in Nepal.
