Mental Health at events
Medical Response, Melbourne, are a provider of event first aid across Victoria. This service typically encompasses medical first response for injuries and illness at sporting events, corporate events, community events and functions.
There are a number of providers that operate in this space, and focus purely on the physical injuries. Medical Response have a number of staff that are trained in advanced mental health response, and understand that injuries are not always of a physical nature.
With 1 in 5 Australians suffering a mental illness at some point in their lives, it is an issue that needs to see the stigma broken down, and any concerns addressed and spoken about. A mental illness, is just as important to treat as any physical injury.
Medical Response have a number of staff trained in: Mental Health First Aid, ASIST Suicide Prevention, QPR Suicide Prevention and Mental Health First Response. We believe that it is important to have staff available at an event, that are able to sit and talk about any mental health issues a client may be facing, and ensure that the appropriate support and referrals are provided.
