Annual White Knight Foundation Gala Dinner set to raise awareness on unprovoked violence

Announcement posted by White Knight Foundation 14 May 2018

The White Knight Foundation is set to hold its annual Gala Dinner, June 1, 2018 to raise funds and generate public awareness of unprovoked youth violence in Australia and continue assisting victims who require significant rehabilitation and medical expenses.

With tickets now sold out, the Gala Dinner will be hosted at the Civic Pavilion, The Concourse in Chatswood, featuring live entertainment from stage show magician Mentalist Phoenix, music performances and good vibes from the talented Vale as well as live auctions and compelling stories uniting us about what we are supporting. Set to raise support and attend the flagship event are ambassadors Karl Stefanovic (Today Show) and Katie Williams (fitness personality).

Seeking to raise funds to purchase medical equipment and accommodation and home modifications for victims, Director of The White Knight Foundation Shane Knight is expecting to beat last year’s fundraising efforts of $65,000.

“To date, we have donated over $100,000 to organisations and individuals in need and we are always looking to increase this figure to expand our support reach to assist young victims of crime along with facilitating our community education programs.” Mr Knight said.

The White Knight Foundation was established in 2013 when Liam Knight became the victim of an unprovoked attack resulting in widespread public support and attention from policy-makers regarding addressing violence.

Liam suffered from being on the receiving end of a 2.8m long steel rod piercing through his skull. Against the odds, he survived the attack and continues to endure a long road of rehabilitation from the brain damage caused.

Through lived experience, White Knight Ambassador and survivor Liam Knight is determined to get back to his former self and assist other victims with help and support through financial assistance.

“Unprovoked violence can occur to anyone across all ages, socioeconomic and demographic groups and is unacceptable in the wider community,” said Liam.

“Therefore support for victims requires public support in getting individuals back on their feet and the White Knight Foundation’s Grant Program which opens three times a year.”

Following the Gala Dinner from June 1 – July 31, 2018 victims of unprovoked attacks will be eligible to apply for a White Knight Foundation Grant online.

The Forest Rugby Club on Sydney’s Northern Beaches will also hold a 24 hour charity relay on June 8 and 9 to help raise vital funds for the White Knight Foundation. The event will be held at Melwood Oval in Forestville all are welcome to support.

Alternatively you can make a donation to the White Knight Foundation online.
