Announcement posted by Incredo Solutions Australia 30 May 2018
Google announced that it was switching to mobile-first indexing from March this year. This means Google will now crawl and index mobile sites first. If the website is not mobile-friendly, it will still index the pages of a desktop site.
In April SEOs and webmasters started getting notifications via Google Search Console of their sites being “enabled” for mobile-first indexing. Websites may see more traffic in logs from Googlebot Smartphone. Snippets in Google Search results are now generated from the mobile version of website content.
Google says mobile-first indexing means that Googlebot will now use the mobile version of the website for indexing and ranking, to better help the (primarily mobile) users find what they’re looking for.
Businesses must keep up with the latest trends in the SEO world and update websites for it to become mobile-friendly. Businesses that were not able to create complex websites can simply create a mobile-only presence. SEO consultants like Incredo Solutions can also help with website content.
