Announcement posted by Dracula's Cabaret Restaurant 26 Jun 2018
The eternally damned icon that is Dracula’s in Broadbeach is boldly announcing the first in the newly animated LIVE AT DRACULA’S series, with an all-star comedic line-up, featuring Akmal Saleh, Sunday July 29, 2018.
Brought to you by the brains trust behind Dracula’s Gold Coast, the iconic cabaret venue will now be serving up a feast of one-off shows as it opens the crypt and morphs into the ultimate entertainment venue.
Dracula’s killer night-time show, TERRORBYTE will continue its reign five nights a week, Tuesdays to Saturdays, and now the venue will take on new life on Sundays hosting LIVE AT DRACULA’S entertainment.
The first LIVE AT DRACULA’S, Sunday July 29, features Akmal Saleh heading an all-star comedic line-up with Bob Franklin, Damien Power, Ellen Briggs and host Dusty Rich.
Perfectly situated on the light rail between Pacific Fair and The Star, the night will be enhanced with a vibrant food truck line up, supported by Drac’s infamous signature cocktails and drinks from the bar.
Draculas Operations Manager Luke Newman says “We have an incredible venue that sits empty two nights a week, so the move to deliver live entertainment and shows on these nights seems a natural progression.”
He adds “There is a lack of medium sized venues here on the Gold Coast and we know that as a venue to hire, we will be sought after by touring shows, DJs and bands, and we are excited to mix up our offering a little.”
Peeling back the layers, Dracula’s is a 500-seat venue featuring a state-of-the art Meyer Sound System and world’s-best special effects creating a rich, immersive atmosphere perfect for live music and shows.
Don’t miss the newest entertainment experience to hit the Gold Coast scene…
Tickets are $50 and available at www.draculas.com.au

ABOUT AKMAL SALEH
Movies, Sketch, Stand‐Up, Tv appearances, radio DJ and talk show host, improvisation and a published author, Akmal is out of Australia's most respected, successful and accomplished comics. He displays an incredible ability to deal with hot topics in a hilarious and non‐offensive way.
Akmal has a fascinating past. Originally immigrating to Australia from Egypt with his family nearly 30 years ago. He sums it up in his own inimitable style ‐ "My parents didn't tell us where we were going. We thought it was two hours away. Twenty hours later, we got off a plane. We were on another planet". This and many other bizarre incidents dot Akmal's life ‐ suggesting a career in stand‐up comedy was pre‐ordained, either that or he should have been committed early on.
Being Australia's only Arab comedian, His Arab heritage steers his comedy to issues of religion, honesty, hysterical looks at modern day life. His uncanny comedic gift means he is one of those gifted comedians who has the audience eating out of the palm of his hand as soon as he walks on stage.
Akmal's popularity has increased considerably over the last 10 years due to his regular appearances on national television shows such as Rove, The Glasshouse and Thank God You're Here. As a result, Akmal has toured the country with numerous sell out tours including his 'Hoot' and 'Gullible' tours. Akmal wrote and starred in 'All Aussies are Boofta' ‐ a sketch comedy show which enjoyed three successful seasons and critical acclaim at the legendary Harold Park Hotel, The Parramatta Riverside Theatre and The Harbourside Brasserie.
He has appeared at Festivals all around the world including Adelaide Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Vancouver Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, New Zealand Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Akmal wrote and starred in the feature film ' You Can't Stop the Murders ' to critical acclaim and also the cult hit tv show 'The 40 Foot Show'. As a result of this he then hosted the popular 'The Wrong Way Home' drive radio show on the Nova network. The show achieved the station’s highest ever drive ratings.
His passion for stand‐up comedy got too much and he returned to the stage with his National sell out tour 'Live and Uncensored'. He released this show as his first ever live DVD and it has subsequently achieved platinum status in Australia.
He has been nominated for numerous awards including Two Australian Comedy Awards, two Helpmann Awards (for excellence in live performance) and an ARIA award (Australian Recording Industry Award) for his DVD 'Live and Uncensored'.

ABOUT DUSTY RICH
Dusty Rich's meteoric rise in the comedy industry is due to the fact he had learnt to ride meteors at a very young age - a mind meteor, smashing through the atmosphere of mediocre and mundane. With Dusty at the helm, every show is unpredictable and hilarious, leaving audiences gasping for air. A true original, his style is manic but impactful. The mystical art of comedy bursts through his veins (and mouth) coupled with his razor sharp wit, taking no prisoners. Dusty Rich is, without question, an unnaturally talented comedic anomaly.
