5MU’s Barry Martin passes away

Former 5MU presenter Barry Martin has died at 77 years of age.
He passed away following a year-long bout with mouth and jaw cancer, which also prompted his exit last month from the station after doctors said the situation was inoperable.
A well-known voice in the Perth breakfast scene in the 1970s, Martin had spent the past 14 years with 5MU hosting Saturday Sports Show, Radio Classifieds, and Sunday Gold.
"His connection with his listeners was incredible and his beautiful voice, ageless. Barry was always someone I could turn to for advice and support. He has pretty much done it all in this industry and has been a shining light for those of us coming up after him.
