The Delhi High Court has issued summons in journalist Omar Rashid’s defamation suit against a woman lawyer who accused him of rape and forced beef‑eating in social media posts last year. Justice Sachin Dutta also issued notice on Rashid’s plea for interim injunctive relief, directing the defendant to file a reply within two weeks. Delhi-based independent journalist Bindu Gurjar has alleged that she and two other journalists, Monika Singh and Lokbhadra (Lok) Singh, faced pressure, surveillance and repeated attempts to push them out of Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, while they were reporting on the deaths of tribal children in the district. The three began ground reporting on August 28 after learning of the deaths and visited the affected villages and families to cross-check death tolls against official figures.
