SENQ welcomes more Queensland hosts

Sports Entertainment Network has announced two more presenters for its forthcoming Queensland launch, as 4KQ signs off tonight. Channel 7 senior sports reporter Ben Davis (pictured) and broadcaster Alissa Smith have joined the station. Davis will host Mornings with Ben Davis each Monday from 9 am – 12 pm, covering Queensland’s weekend sporting results and news. Smith will co-host mornings joining Davis and a producer for additional programs from the 693 SENQ studios in Brisbane (Fortitude Valley) and the Gold Coast (Varsity Lakes). SEN’s Queensland Content Manager, Jason Matthews said that Queenslanders love sport and the team is looking forward to providing them with specific content. “Whether it’s the chant of “Queenslander” at Suncorp Stadium or the walk to the GABBA for the first day of the test match in summer, Queenslanders just love their sport. Seven appoints head of entertainment

The Seven Network has welcomed ITV Studios’ Majella Wiemers to the new role of head of entertainment.  Wiemers will be responsible for the network’s leading entertainment programs including The Voice, Australian Idol, and AGT, reporting to Seven’s director of production, Andrew Backwell. Backwell said that he has known Wiemers for many years and is delighted that she is joining the network.  “She is one of the best television production executives in Australia and is a great addition to our network,” Backwell said.  Wiemers said that she is excited to be returning to the network. “I cannot wait to bring all my skills across all facets of production to this role and to Seven,” she said. Wiemers joins Seven from ITV Studios Australia, where she has been head of entertainment since March 2018. She has worked across various organizations as an executive producer including Southern Star, Network Ten, Endemol Shine Australia, Nine Network and ITV Studios..  

Nine elevates Liana Dubois

Nine network has promoted Liana Dubois to the newly created role of chief marketing officer. Dubois will be responsible for the network’s total marketing and brand strategy to accelerate the audience and revenue growth across television, radio, publishing and digital, reporting to CEO Mike Sneesby. Studio 10 updates production team

Studio 10 has made some changes to the production team with a departure, new hires and elevations. Tori Green has departed Studio 10 after nearly 9 years helming various production roles. Green joined the program in 2013 as producer and worked as a supervising producer before being promoted to her most recent role as co-executive producer. She has also worked as story producer of Australian Survivor Series 7 at Endemol Shine Australia. Raj Wakeling becomes executive producer, reporting to head of lifestyle programs, Tamara Simoneau, after moving from his most recent role of supervising producer at The Project. He has held various production roles at Seven network. Holly Massey has joined the team alongside Kim Kind as supervising producer after departing from Nine network where he worked as senior producer for more than five years. Matt Simpson became chief of staff while Jesse Baird joined as producer/reporter.

Ten extends news bulletin

Ten Network has expanded its weekday news offering with a 30 minute national morning bulletin, 10 News First : Breakfast from 8 am.  The 10 News First : Breakfast will provide an update on everyday news at the start of the day, delivering latest breaking news, up-to-date reports on local, national and international stories.   Martin White, Head of Broadcast News at 10 News First said that the network’s commitment to news gets stronger with this new venture.  “The addition of a new morning news bulletin in 10 News First: Breakfast expands and strengthens 10’s commitment to news across the day,” White said. Channel 10 News aims to provide news updates throughout the day from breakfast at 8 am to 5 pm.  The 8 am breakfast launches on Monday, 27 June on 10 and Studio 10 and will follow at the new time of 8.30 am.  The program will be presented by Lachlan Kennedy from Monday to Wednesday, and Natasha Exelby on Thursdays and Fridays.

Canberra welcomes SENTrack

Sports Entertainment Network has announced the launch of Canberra’s first ever racing and sport channel SENTrack Canberra 1323 AM, providing non-stop racing and sport content to Canberra listeners.
