Arunachal press bodies raise alarm over restriction on SUMP-related coverage

Journalist bodies in Arunachal Pradesh have raised concerns over the reported restriction of news reports, videos and a local media page covering the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP), seeking greater transparency over the action and restoration of journalistic content.
In a joint statement issued on October 5, the Arunachal Press Club (APC) and Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) said several journalists had reported that videos and other content related to SUMP had either become inaccessible in India or faced access restrictions. In some cases, users were informed that the content had been temporarily restricted under legal requirements of India's Information Technology rules.
