Aussie journos earn Queen’s Birthday Honours

Several members of Australia’s media community made the cut for the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
At the top of the recognition, ABC chairperson and OBE honouree Ita Buttrose (pictured) was declared a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC).
Leigh Sales’ service in the broadcast media field, primarily as host of 7.30, earned her a spot as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). The Age economics editor Peter Martin, Sydney Weekender host Mike Whitney, former Gruen panelist Jane Caro, and News Corp Australia corporate affairs director Campbell Reid are also AM awardees.
Former The Spirit of Things host Rachael Kohn was recognised as an Officer of the Order of Australia (OA) for her radio, most prominently with content on Jewish studies.
