Spotlight: Running Past the Red Zones
Imagine a stadium the size of Kerala. Now imagine it filled not with spectators but with players — 3.91 lakh of them — sprinting, grappling, lifting and reclaiming a region long defined only by conflict. That’s the picture Jayprakash S. Naidu of The Indian Express sketches in his striking account of the Bastar Olympics, a tournament that has quietly become Bastar’s most powerful referendum on hope.
Naidu slips us into the story through people, not policy: a former Maoist who now serves in the police and wins the 100-meter sprint; teenagers from Abujhmad — once the most inaccessible Maoist fortress — now running barefoot toward district finals; and surrendered cadres forming a team boldly named Nuva Baat, or New Path. His reportage shows a region where identity is no longer forged by ideology, but by sport.
The scale is dizzying: eleven games, seven districts, 45,545 sq km of terrain,

A young woman journalist working as an anchor for a local news portal was found dead inside her office in Guwahati on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Ritumoni Roy, who was supposed to get married on December 5. Preparations for the ceremony were reportedly underway.
According to police, Roy had attended a pre-wedding function at a friend’s residence on Sunday evening before returning to her office later that night. She is suspected to have died by suicide.
Initial information suggests that Roy had been on duty on November 23 but did not return home after completing her shift. Her colleagues discovered her body the following morning. Investigators also recovered a note from the room which read: “It is for the good of everyone. Sorry.”
Family members have indicated that financial distress may have contributed to the suspected suicide. A case has been registered, and police are examining all possible angles to determi
35 journalism students in Gujarat receive wrong question paper during exam
By Staff Writer in Media News on Tuesday, 25th November 2025 at 2:39pm
Examination stress turned into shock for 35 students of the Master of Mass Communication and Journalism (MMCJ) course in Gujarat when they were handed the wrong question paper during their Semester 3 exam on Monday, November 24.
The scheduled paper was for subject number 502, but students instead received the paper for subject number 503, which was meant for the following day. The error was quickly flagged by the students, prompting authorities to replace the papers with the correct ones. To compensate for the disruption, an additional 20 minutes was granted to complete the exam.
According to Ahmedabad Mirror, Gujarat University registrar Piyush Patel confirmed that a show-cause notice would be issued to the paper-setter and those involved in the error. He added that the teacher responsible may be barred from future exam-related duties if found guilty.
State Education Minister Dr. Pradyuman Vaja also addressed the incident, explaining that the paper-setter had mistakenly placed su

Long joins Triple M as nationwide tech expert
By Will McLennan in Media News on Tuesday, 25th November 2025 at 12:42pm
EFTM’s Trevor Long will be Triple M’s nationwide tech expert come 2026, ending his relationships with 2GB and 6PR to focus on the new exclusive arrangement.
“I'm familiar with the network,” Long told Influencing. “I've been appearing on Triple M stations for a decade or more. It's a great fit, to be honest. I would assume Triple M’s audience skews male-heavy, and that’s exactly how EFTM skews."
“Another thing was this role is also regional, because regional Australia is a huge part of our nation. People who live in regional towns still cling to their radio for information and to be able to provide real-time information about a topic that's important for everyone, that’s critical.”
Due to the exclusive nature of the arrangement, Long will cease his long-standing relationships with 2GB and 6PR, a shift he describes as “bittersweet”.
While Long sees radio as an important medium and it's one he has a personal connection to, he said there just wasn’t the comm

The Chennai Press Club has taken to its official X handle to urge the Puducherry Police to take action against Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) coordinator Seeman for allegedly misbehaving with a journalist, as well as against party workers who reportedly manhandled media personnel during a press interaction in Villianur.
The incident unfolded on Sunday, November 23, during a press meet held alongside a consultative session of Puducherry and Cuddalore office bearers ahead of the 2026 Legislative Assembly election. Tensions escalated when a journalist questioned Seeman about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and the Centre’s rejection of Metro Rail project proposals for Coimbatore and Madurai. Seeman reacted angrily, verbally abused the journalist and asked that he be removed from the venue. NTK cadres allegedly tried to push the reporter out, causing commotion inside the hall.
Commenting on the matter, journalist Prabhakar Tamilarasu said th
