Chairing a meeting of Rajya Sabha floor leaders on Tuesday in the context of recovery of semi-burnt Indian currency notes at the official residence of Delhi High Court Judge Justice Yashwant Verma on March 14, Vice President and Chairman of Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankar continued to build ground for another intervention by the Parliament into judicial appointments.

Sobhana K Nair for The Hindu wrote that while both the Centre and the Opposition concurred on the need for an alternative to the present Collegium system of appointments, which the two sides said lacked transparency, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge placed the onus on the government to clarify its position on the issue.
