De Brito prepares exit

Kate de Brito is leaving the News.com.au editor-in-chief post at the end of the year.
News Corp Australasia executive chairman Michael Miller said De Brito is making way for new leadership after a nearly five-year run at the top. She succeeded Daniel Sankey back in 2016.
“Under Kate’s leadership, news.com.au has grown into a fast-moving, driving force in the Australian news landscape. I thank and congratulate Kate on her contribution and the news.com.au team for their extraordinary energy and focus,” said Miller.
In addition to leaving the top role at News.com.au, De Brito will also vacate a similar seat at Kidspot, with editor Mel Wilson at the helm.

Veteran Odisha journalist Ashutosh Mishra passed away at the age of 68 on Sunday night, according to a report by The Wire.
Mishra, who had a career spanning nearly four decades, worked with several prominent publications including The Times of India, The Pioneer and The Telegraph, and also contributed regularly to The Wire. His reporting often focused on Odisha’s political landscape and social issues in the state.
Originally from Varanasi, Mishra grew up in Rourkela after his father moved there as a school teacher. Over the years, he became closely associated with Odisha’s media circles and was known for his political reporting and analysis.

Journalist Narayan Bareth passes away

Veteran journalist Narayan Bareth passed away in Jaipur on March 7 after suffering a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment for pneumonia. He was 68.
During his career, Bareth worked with the BBC and later served as the Rajasthan Information Commissioner. He was widely respected for his contributions to journalism and public administration.
According to The Economic Times, former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and several political leaders expressed grief over his death and remembered his work in journalism and public service.
Senior Journalist S. M. Shah Nawaz passes away

Senior journalist and author S. M. Shah Nawaz passed away on March 5 at the RML Nursing Home. He was associated with the Urdu fortnightly Mustaqbil as its editor for more than four decades.
According to Kashmir Convener, Shah Nawaz had a strong interest in short story writing and theatre, and collaborated with personalities such as Ebrahim Alkazi. His stories were published in Dharmyug, Sarika and Kadambini. He also worked with Sushma, Tajir and Rakt Daan.

Long before he stepped into a newsroom, Vishal Bolivar was already a student of politics
As a child, he followed debates about Tamil Nadu politics, national affairs, and international events with unusual curiosity. By the time he began his professional career, politics had already become a daily habit.
But his first job was far from journalism.
In 2020, Vishal joined TCS Global as a technical support engineer. Like many young professionals, he spent his days navigating software systems and technical queries. Yet outside work, his interest in politics continued to grow.

A group of journalists from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, currently on a Press Information Bureau (PIB) media outreach tour, visited Chennai Port, where officials briefed them on the port’s operations and its role in maintaining supply connectivity with the islands.
During the visit, officials from the Chennai Port Authority briefed the journalists about the port’s activities.
