The Reporters’ Collective has invited applications for a three-day, in-person investigative journalism training workshop to be held in Delhi from August 31 to September 2, 2026.  The programme is open to early-career journalists with three to five years of experience from north and central India who are interested in developing investigative reporting skills.  The workshop will accommodate 15 participants, offering focused training in the principles and practice of investigative journalism.  Applications are open until August 10, 2026.   Interested journalists can apply through the link provided by The Reporters’ Collective.

The Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) has urged the Karnataka government to expedite the implementation of the Rural Journalists’ Free Bus Pass Scheme and the Chief Minister’s Media Health Sanjeevini Scheme, calling for an immediate meeting of the committee responsible for overseeing the initiatives.  KUWJ State President Shivanand Tagadoor submitted a memorandum to M.N. Anuchetha, Commissioner of the Department of Information and Public Relations, requesting early implementation of both welfare schemes.  According to the memorandum, the Rural Journalists’ Free Bus Pass Scheme was launched by the Chief Minister during the Press Day celebrations on July 1, 2025. Author, journalist and academic Mehru Jaffer died in Goa on Wednesday following complications from an intestinal obstruction that led to sepsis. She was in her mid-70s.  The Uttar Pradesh Working Journalists’ Union paid tribute to Jaffer, remembering her as a pioneering journalist and one of the principal organisers of the Indian Federation of Working Journalists’ Chitrakoot conference in 1978. Condolences were also expressed by the IFWJ and the UP Press Club.

Vinyl Group CEO Josh Simons and Mumbrella managing director Simon Grover will meet on Wednesday to discuss the ongoing disagreement between the two media companies.  The meeting was revealed in a piece penned by Mumbrella founder and publisher Tim Burrowes over the weekend. Burrowes used the piece to address, point by point, complaints Simons raised in a four-page letter posted to LinkedIn on Wednesday.  Amid personal anecdotes and references to past interactions, Burrowes rejected claims of personal abuse.  “The upsetting part of that paragraph is the phrase 'personal abuse'. Mumbrella has never published anything personal or abusive about Simons or any of his colleagues.
