Seven journalists selected for the Manipur State Journalist Awards 2025

Seven journalists have been selected for the Manipur State Journalist Awards 2025 across various categories, according to E-Pao report. Kharibam Yaiphaba Meitei has been chosen for the award for reporting with special reference to women and children. Sanasam Kritivas Singh of Sanaleibak has been selected for his work in Science and Technology reporting, while Dr Khaidem Athouba Meitei, also from Sanaleibak, has been named for the award in Parliamentary reporting. Thongam Boney Singh of Poknapham has been recognised for his reporting on Art and Culture. Hemchandra Shagolsem of Sanaleibak will receive the award for Public Health and Hygiene reporting. Aribam Robindro Sharma of Poknapham has been selected for the Best Editor award for his writing on national integration and communal harmony. Journalist saves transgender protester from jumping off bridge in Tamil Nadu

In an act that goes beyond duty, a reporter covering a transgender protest in Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu, saved a protesting transgender person from jumping off a bridge on November 12. A group of transgenders were protesting, demanding free house-site pattas and government-provided housing. Upset over the alleged lax attitude of government officials, one of the protesters attempted to jump off the bridge. However, a quick-thinking journalist at the scene intervened just in time, preventing a tragedy, India Today reported. The district collector later met the protesters and assured them that their concerns would be examined and necessary action would be taken at the earliest. Following this assurance, the group dispersed peacefully.

Aaj Tak, News18 Network cross 1 million concurrent viewers during Bihar election coverage on YT

As counting for the Bihar assembly elections picked up on Friday, November 14, Aaj Tak and the News18 Network crossed the one million mark in concurrent viewers on YouTube. Aaj Tak’s live streams recorded 1,094,338 concurrent users at around 8.30 am, according to BestMediaInfo.com. News18 Network’s Hindi and regional channels also crossed one million concurrent viewers. The combined streams of News18 India, News18 Bihar & Jharkhand, and News18 MP & Chhattisgarh crossed the seven-figure mark as interest in the results grew. Among Hindi news channels on YouTube, News18 India ranked second after Aaj Tak with a peak of 424,323 concurrent users. India TV logged 152,462 viewers, while Zee News recorded 74,611.

Prashant Kishore's Jan Swaraj Party seems to be all set for opening its account in Bihar's legislature, currently leading in more than one constituency. Counting of votes for the crucial Bihar assembly elections began at 8am on Friday, with initial trends indicating the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is ahead in several seats, according to an NDTV report. Voting trends at 09.30am showed the NDA leading in 152 seats and the Mahagathbandhan in 117. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also crossed the 50-mark, leading in 77 seats.
