Kerala journalists force IAS officer out of Assembly press meet

Journalists in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday forced Agriculture Director Sriram Venkitaraman IAS, reportedly an accused in the 2019 death of journalist K M Basheer, to leave a press conference convened by newly appointed Agriculture Minister T Siddique at the Kerala Legislative Assembly.
The protest erupted after journalists saw Venkitaraman seated alongside the minister in the Assembly media room. Journalists raised slogans and objected to his presence, arguing that an accused in Basheer's death should not be given prominence at an official government event.
