By Staff Writer in Media News on Friday, 23rd October 2026 at 2:51pm
Journalist Abhijit Bhattacharjee and his son were allegedly assaulted in Agartala during the early hours of October 21 after objecting to a bamboo barricade that had blocked public movement on Ramnagar Road No. 1 during Durga Puja festivities.
According to a police complaint, the incident occurred near Yuba Sangha Club, where a group of allegedly intoxicated youths reportedly verbally abused Bhattacharjee before attacking him and his son. The complaint further alleges that the son's mobile phone was snatched and smashed when he attempted to record the confrontation.
Both Bhattacharjee and his son sustained injuries in the incident and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to a report by TripuraInfo, a case has been registered at the West Agartala Police Station. One person has reportedly been detained, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused.
The incident has intensified concerns over alleged unauthorised road closures in the Ramnagar area du
Exclusive: Future axes Aussie print titles
By Will McLennan and Phil Sim in Media News on Friday, 23rd October 2026 at 7:29am
Iconic technology magazine APC is expected to fold, as Future Publishing Australia embarks on a major restructure that will see it abandon print and likely make editorial cuts.
Influencing is aware that the UK-based Future has been consulting with staff as it works through an Australian restructure that follows cuts made internationally earlier this month.
However, it is understood that the decision to exit magazine publishing has already been made, and that will result in it ceasing to publish APC, Australian Hi-Fi, Sound + Image, Australian Camera and ProPhoto. Future's publishers page on iSubscribe which was active earlier this week, now shows no results.
APC is not only Australia’s longest surviving personal technology magazine, it is also the world’s longest-running English-language PC title, having been first published in 1980 by Sean Howard. The magazine is edited by long-serving, experienced technology editor Ben Mansill, who is expected to seek new opp

Snowy 2.0 blows out to $25b, reigniting scrutiny of nation-building projects
Australia’s biggest energy infrastructure build has ballooned to as much as $25 billion and been pushed back to 2029, with geological problems, construction pressures and management questions fuelling political fallout. Beyond the sticker shock, the blowout sharpens debate about how governments oversee mega-project risk, and whether promised power-price benefits stack up once transmission and delays are counted. After Haines attack, MPs face a new security reality
Escalating threats and political violence are driving a rethink of how Australia protects elected representatives, with bolstered police protection and home/office security upgrades now on the table. The coverage underscores a broader democratic challenge: keeping MPs accessible to the public while reducing the risk of harassment and
PRAXIS India 2026: The stories we tell can change lives and ourselves, says Kabir Bedi
By Staff Writer in Media News on Friday, 23rd October 2026 at 1:32am
Stories can change public opinion, challenge prejudice, inspire generations and even alter the course of a person's life. But for actor and author Kabir Bedi, their greatest power lies in something more personal: the ability to give people meaning, help them confront difficult experiences and find the courage to reinvent themselves.
Speaking at PRAXIS India in Kochi on Stories as a Force for Good, Bedi drew on his remarkable journey across advertising, Indian cinema, European television and Hollywood to explain why storytelling remains one of humanity's most powerful forms of communication.
Addressing an audience of public relations and communications professionals, he began by recalling his own connection to the advertising industry. Before entering films, Bedi spent five years working at Lintas and Ogilvy & Mather, where he was involved in film and radio production.
That experience, he said, had kept him connected to the communications profession, even as his career
Raghu Rai's posthumous book explores the lives and dignity of animals
By Staff Writer in Media News on Thursday, 22nd October 2026 at 8:02pm
A new book by celebrated photojournalist Raghu Rai, the first to be published after his death, explores the lives of animals through a collection of photographs that encourage readers to see them as fellow inhabitants of the planet rather than subjects of observation.
The book features an introduction by animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi, who describes the work as “a heartbroken elegy” and a love letter to animals.
In her foreword, Gandhi argues that animals are more than aesthetic subjects for photography. She writes that they are sentient beings deserving empathy, respect and recognition, and urges readers to look beyond admiration to acknowledge their dignity, emotions and place in the natural world.
Through Rai's images, the book seeks to deepen understanding of the bond between humans and animals while offering a visual meditation on coexistence, compassion and shared existence.
