BIG FM bets on one big world for non-radio growth

By Staff Writer in Media News on
RBNL's BIG FM has unveiled an integrated version of its media ecosystem, ONE BIG WORLD, shifting from siloed ad sales to a unified platform. First launched in 2022, the revamp aims to simplify things for advertisers navigating a fragmented market.  CEO Ashit Kukian said clients previously had to deal with digital, radio, and activation teams separately — an added effort even before results came in. The new single-window system removes these layers, giving brands one point of contact for the entire campaign. "This integration just means one call," Kukian said.

UNICEF, PIB, AIIMS Nagpur train journalists on childhood NCD reporting

By Staff Writer in Media News on
UNICEF India, PIB (Western Zone), and AIIMS Nagpur concluded a two-day media workshop in Nagpur on July 14 to improve reporting on childhood non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with over 30 journalists from western India attending.  Sessions covered NCDs in children aged 5–19 — from diagnosis gaps in rural and tribal areas to rising obesity, diabetes, and mental health issues in cities. Speakers included officials from PIB, AIIMS Nagpur, DGHS, and UNICEF, who stressed accurate, stigma-free reporting and early detection.  Journalists toured AIIMS Nagpur's Centre of Excellence for childhood NCDs, met doctors and patients, and worked on story ideas using government health data resources like PIB, NFHS/SRS surveys, and the POSHAN tracker.  The workshop kicked off continued engagement through NCD Week in September 2026, with journalists getting ongoing support and a chance to showcase their reporting at a Mumbai event

Nine Publishing to make redundancies

By Staff Writer in Media News on
Up to 30 roles at Nine Publishing’s Metro mastheads are set to be made redundant. The redundancies are impacting the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Brisbane Times, WA Today and Nine.com.au. They involve editorial and some operations staff at the mastheads.  The Australian Financial Review is excluded from this latest round of redundancies, as per a report from the masthead’s media reporter Sam Buckingham-Jones.  The nature of redundancies is unclear, with different reports citing a mix of targeted and voluntary redundancies.  Nine Publishing staff were first told by the publishing division's managing director Tory Maguire this morning via both internal emails and a Town Hall meeting, Influencing has learnt. Maguire cited the reason for the redundancies as the need for Nine Publishing to keep up with the changing media landscape.  “In particular we need to keep shifting towards the digital-first future,” Maguire allegedly said.&n

Ticker News has launched Ticker Air – a new aviation-focused series, which company founder Ahron Young believes will be more of a serious conversation about the aviation industry. Ticker Air debuted last Friday. Each episode features Young interviewing a different guest from the consumer or industry side of aviation, covering both B2B and B2C topics. “I think that's where our difference is,” he told Influencing. “While you have websites [focused on] luxury travel or the aircraft, we're looking at the entire industry and the changes that could impact travellers the most.”  The show will go out across the Ticker network, Ticker app and Ticker social media accounts.  Young said the series will examine both local and international stories, citing Western Sydney Airport's impact on Sydney and changes to Delta and American Airlines' transatlantic routes as examples. “As we look at it as an industry and at it from a travel perspective, we get a really broad understanding

Israel–Labor stoush over Gaza policy heats up Israel is lobbying Australia to soften Labor’s draft platform on Israel-Palestine, arguing it is “one-sided” and risks legitimising Hamas, while pro-Palestinian advocates push Labor towards tougher steps such as sanctions and limiting defence exports. The dispute matters because it goes to Australia’s UN posture, Middle East diplomacy, and domestic political pressure points inside Labor as Canberra tries to steady a strained relationship with Jerusalem.
