THE BRIEF: Massacre
By Tony Bosworth in Media News on Monday, 15th December 2025 at 6:19am
Morning, welcome to Monday and a sombre series of front pages today as attention focusses on the terrorism attack at Bondi last night. Well done to the print dailies and their hardworking journalists, designers, sub-editors and phhotographers managing such extensive coverage, given the time of the event in the early evening and tight deadlines.

'Massacre of Jews' reads the all-caps headline and its sub-head of 'at least 10 dead, 16 injured' points to the early coverage and known fatalities and injured as the paper went to print. Elizabeth Pike, Stephen Rice and Liam Mendes led The Oz's reporting with Jacquelin Magnay and

In a world racing toward automation, where AI now shapes everything from classrooms to government workflows, a small school in Kashmir's Budgam is choosing a gentler path. Life School in Chrar-e-Sharief hosted a media workshop this week to honour senior journalist and editor Mudasir Ali, who passed away in 2020, reportedly due to alleged medical negligence. The workshop also marked the first anniversary of the Mudasir Ali Podcast Studio, an in-house audio–visual lab built to carry forward his rigorous and human-centred approach to journalism.
The studio now trains selected students in news gathering, reporting, media ethics, and equipment handling, a program that runs alongside regular academics and has become a core part of the school’s effort to teach real-world skills and critical thinking.
Chairman Baba Nazrul Islam, who also leads the J&K Private School Association, said the initiative was created to turn Mudasir’s values into something students could
