New GM set for Radio Murray Bridge

Radio Murray Bridge in SA has tapped Dave Shearer to succeed Stephen Walker as overall general manager, effective 6 April.
Grant Broadcasters started searching for a new GM as Walker stated he was stepping away after 11 years at the helm.
Shearer was formerly GM of Fresh 92.7 and content director for Fiveaa.
“With 5MU recently converting to FM and with a number of new shows launched on both 5MU and Power FM, it’s a great time for Dave to take over steering this team to continued success,” said Grant Broadcasters Victoria/SA regional manager Peter Upton.

Anil Ambani files defamation case against Arnab Goswami and Republic TV

Industrialist Anil Ambani has filed a defamation case in the Bombay High Court against journalist Arnab Goswami and Republic TV, alleging that recent broadcasts about his financial dealings have harmed his reputation.
According to the petition, Ambani claims the programmes contained defamatory content that created a misleading impression among the public, investors, and the business community. He has sought an interim injunction to restrain Goswami and Republic TV from airing or publishing any further allegedly derogatory material until the case is decided.
The matter is expected to be heard by a bench led by Justice Milind Jadhav on April 1, e4m reported. The case is currently at a preliminary stage, with the court set to decide on temporary relief.
KUWJ announces 2024 Journalism Awards

The Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) has announced its annual journalism awards for 2024, recognising excellence across categories including rural reporting, crime, human interest, agriculture, and television journalism.
The awards will be presented during the 40th State Journalists’ Conference scheduled in Bidar on April 11 and 12.
In a statement, State President Shivanand Tagadur and General Secretary G.C. Lokesh said the awards honour impactful reporting across Karnataka. Speaking to Influencing India, Tagadur added, “The event was scheduled last December, but due to the union election, it got postponed. Nevertheless, we are happy to announce the winners. You have done a good job in the field of journalism.”

Lizzies Winners 2026: Best Technical Journalist - Simon Sharwood

Simon Sharwood is “pumped” to have won this year’s Best Technical Journalist award at this year’s Lizzies.
“It's lovely to be recognised and even more so when I felt like I put my best foot forward,” Sharwood told Influencing.

Power Retail, a digital masthead for online retail professionals, has entered liquidation with multiple staff losing their jobs.
ASIC records show that that member of Power Retail Pty Ltd resolved on 30 March 2026 that the company be wound up, with Frank Lo Pilato and Adam Cormack appointed as liquidators.
That has resulted in Wextred Advisors being appointed as Receivers and Managers of Power Retail and sister company Click Frenzy and they are currently seeking Expressions of Interest for a sale of the business and assets.
Power Retail senior editor Rosalea Catterson posted to LinkedIn that "like many others, I've been impacted by Power Retail entering receivership".
"It’s been tough and a shock, especially coming straight off one of the biggest and most energising months of my career, filled with incredible events, enlightening insights, and many meaningful connections," she wrote.

A woman journalist working with a local television channel has alleged sexual harassment while on duty, prompting police to register an FIR at Parvati police station on Tuesday.
