O’Shaughnessy departs the ABC

ABC Perth stalwart Gillian O’Shaughnessy is finishing up her service.
She stated that after 24 years with the network, she was ready to move on to other interests after her farewell Afternoons airing on 11 December.
“I’m so grateful to leave on my own terms, I’m so excited for the gift of time. Thank you everyone who has ever shared a story with me,” she Tweeted.
O’Shaughnessy joined the ABC as a cadet reporter just after graduating from Murdoch University in 1996, covering news for ABC Perth’s TV, radio, and digital platforms. She was tapped for the afternoon show in 2010.
Her announcement came as ABC Perth’s morning and afternoon shows came up with their lowest survey numbers against similar offerings at 6iX.
