Proposal to close Newshub stuns New Zealand media community

In a seismic development for New Zealand's media landscape, Warner Bros. Discovery has unveiled a proposal to shutter Newshub, one of the nation's leading newsrooms, by the end of June. This proposal, attributed to a sharp decline in TV advertising revenue and shifting viewer habits, has sent shockwaves through the industry, sparking concerns about the future of journalism in the country.
The potential closure of Newshub, which employs around 300 journalists, producers, editors, and support staff, has drawn expressions of disbelief and dismay from both within and outside the organisation.
