Journalist's House Demolished in Jammu; PDP, CPI(M) Voice Strong Objections

By Staff Writer in Media News on
A Jammu Development Authority (JDA) team, accompanied by police, reportedly demolished journalist Arfaz Daing’s house in Narwal on November 27, 2025, triggering accusations of selective enforcement from political leaders and lawyers. While officials confirmed the operation, Daing claimed he had not received any prior demolition notice. Daing said this was the second time his home had been torn down. His earlier house in Bathindi was demolished, forcing him to move to his parents’ residence. Describing the latest action as a “selective drive,” he questioned why only his four-decade-old house was targeted. He added that he had requested more time from the JDA team but was refused. A source told The Hindu stated that lawyers Sheikh Shakeel and Zulkarnain Choudhary condemned the demolition, noting that the High Court had directed authorities to begin with major encroachments. Political leaders Waheed-ur-Rehman Para and M.Y. Tarigami also expressed conc

THE BRIEF: Heartfelt

By Tony Bosworth in Media News on
Morning, hope you all had a great weekend, and welcome to Monday. And we're just nine days away from the U16 social media ban coming into force and a story - and nice picture - this morning around Comms Minister Anika Wells's moving motivation to push for the ban. That story by Nicola Smith in The Australian Financial Review is both heartfelt and insightful and ends with this: "Getting such a complex and contentious policy right won't be easy."
