Now, maybe it was just me but the hackles went up with the news last week that Australia's eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant had been asked to appear before the US Congress to tell them what on earth is going on here in Australia as the imprending U16 social media ban is set to come into force on December 10.  Clearly the US has some issues with this because the majority of affected tech companies are American, but summoning Ms Inman Grant, who one committee member called "a zealot", come off it. Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy on Sunday called for a globally coordinated policy on the use of Artificial Intelligence in journalism, stressing that ethical safeguards are essential to protect public trust. She was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 9th National Media Conclave held at the KIMS Auditorium. Padhy said AI can strengthen newsrooms but must operate under strict human oversight. Transparency about AI-generated content, she noted, is crucial as technological shifts blur traditional boundaries in the media ecosystem. After nearly a decade of discussions at GIJN’s global conferences, journalists from South Asian nations have formally agreed to establish a regional collaboration platform. More than fifty journalists convened in Malaysia to launch the “South Asia Collective,” designed to strengthen cooperation and coordination across borders. Picture Credit: The News Minute  Naam Tamilar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman has been booked after visuals of him losing his temper and abusing a television journalist during a press interaction in Puducherry on Sunday, November 23, went viral across social media platforms. Following the incident, the Puducherry Print and Journalist Association lodged a complaint at the Villianur police station. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against three party members, including Seeman, under Sections 296(b) for obscene acts, 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, and 351(2) for criminal intimidation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, The News Minute reported. Influencing earlier reported that the Chennai Press Club condemned the incident and urged the Puducherry Police to take action against Seeman for allegedly misbehaving with a journalist. It also called for strict action against NTK workers who reportedly manhandled media personnel during the press interaction.

The accused have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh of Mandola village in Charkhi Dadri and Gaurav Taneja of Rohtak. Sukhwinder Singh, who is on bail in the 2022 Sonali Phogat murder case, was among those involved in the attack, The Tribune reported. The incident took place on November 22, when a male journalist was allegedly beaten up by a group of men while covering a rave party raid conducted by the Gurugram Police on Saturday morning. Among the assaulters was Sukhwinder Sangvan, the prime accused in the Sonali Phogat case. According to the FIR, the journalist and his cameraperson had accompanied the Gurugram Police during the raid on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday after receiving information about a rave party being held at a local café.
