Sulicich transitions to Age digital editor job

She announced in a Tweet that she will move from editing the Sunday Age to become The Age’s Tablet editor next month. 

Sulicich, who has edited The Sunday Age since 2013, timed the announcement to coincide with the paper’s 30th anniversary this week.

Vickovich joins The Fin

Alecks Vickovich has signed up with the Australian Financial Review as its new banking and wealth reporter.

He Tweeted that he was excited to cover banking and wealth topics in light of the recent Royal Commission hearings. Vickovich came from Nine, where he served for over a year as digital editor for the now-defunct Your Money and as news editor for Business Insider Australia.

Bailey exits Triple M Brisbane Breakfast

This week is Robin Bailey’s last as breakfast host at Triple M Brisbane.

The network announced that she will step down to spend more time with her family and husband Sean Pickwell. She has been with the station since 2017. Pickwell was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer in 2018. 

“This last week was tough and I thought ‘nope, that was it’. I hope this is a miracle and he [Sean] is here next year, but I need to spend time with my husband and not feel bad about the juggle,” said Bailey.

The Australian welcomes new staff

The Australian has added four new editorial staff. 

Patrick Commins is onboard as economics reporter. He recently left the Australian Financial Review after 11 years, with his most recent positions being senior writer and deputy editor for markets. 

Natasha Robinson is back with the paper, taking over the health desk from Sean Parnell. She left the paper four years ago to join the ABC’s national reporting team. Parnell, meanwhile, is transferring to the Queensland bureau as a senior writer, but will still continue as FOI editor.  

Steve Jackson is appointed NSW editor. He joined after almost four years with Nine as a producer and reporter for 60 Minutes. His other stints in the News Corp Australia organisation were with the Daily and Sunday Telegraphs as journalist, chief of staff, and head of news. 

Former Wentworth Courier editor Elizabeth Colman steps up to the content director post. She has been with News Corp Australia since joining The Australia

Bauer introduces The Healthy Mummy magazine

Bauer Media has unveiled a new 160-page fitness magazine for mothers, called The Healthy Mummy.

Penned by The Busy Mum’s Guide To Weight Loss author Rhian Allen, The Healthy Mummy is laden with content to guide mothers with going on a healthier lifestyle, such as tips when dining out, recipes, and exercises. 

The pilot issue (pictured), in particular, features women who have been able to shed at least 25 kilograms through a fun regimen of exercise and controlled eating options. 

First opening as a website in 2010, the magazine was first introduced in the UK in 2018 and a US edition went on sale earlier this year.

Marie Claire rolls out Lifestyle one-off

Marie Claire Australia has produced a special limited-run 148-page magazine called Marie Claire Lifestyle.

An offshoot of Marie Claire’s European home-living title, Marie Claire Maison, Marie Claire Lifestyle offers content on lifestyle topics such as interior design and planning, and organising parties at home. 

Marie Claire lifestyle will be released this week and be on newsstands for the next three months. 

Marie Claire’s lifestyle editor, Anna McCooe, will be in charge of the new magazine, with EIC Nicky Briger on oversight duties.      

“I am thrilled with this new title under the Marie Claire banner. Style extends beyond our wardrobe to homes and entertainment making this a natural fit for the brand,” said Bridger.

The content will also include placements of Fisher & Paykel appliances, under a joint partnership with the latter company.

Marketing magazine ends print run

Industry publication Marketing is doing away with its print magazine, reported Mumbrella.

Editor Ben Ice said in a notice to subscribers that a reader and advertiser shift into digital hard-pressed the editorial staff in producing the latest issue. A product of Niche Media, Marketing has been in circulation six times a year for over 25 years. 

“To our loyal subscribers and readers, I apologise. We wanted to bring you physical issues long into the future, but unfortunately it was no longer a realistic option. Looking after you is a top priority, and continuing to deliver top-quality insight and content is the next step. We’re making the shift to digital editions, the first of which will be the upcoming October issue, delivered on Partica,” said Ice.

ACM introduces new regional content brand

Australian Community Media (ACM) has introduced a new content brand geared towards regional Australia, called Future Focus.

A joint project with the University of New England and Dell Australia, Future Focus comprises of a magazine and special website. Its content discusses life in the regional areas, and will explore opportunities for new economic development and better educational standards. 

Academics and industry stakeholders involved in regional Australia, among others, have agreed to contribute material to Future Focus. Issue No1 (pictured), in particular, has Planning for Prosperity as a theme, with Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO James Pearson, Regional Australia Institute official Liz Ritchie, and economics/geography professor Phillip O’Neill sharing their insights.

The print edition of Future Focus will be a special insert in all ACM daily mastheads, and agricultural papers such as The Land and Queensland Country Life.
