Kidney swaps give second shot at life to four
By Kushagra Dixit · The Times of India, New Delhi · Page 10
Doctors at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket performed what they describe as north India's first four-way paired kidney transplant on July 13, connecting four families from Kashmir, Delhi, Bihar and Nagaland who faced immunological or blood-group incompatibilities with their direct donors. Eight surgeries were performed simultaneously across five operating theatres over 12 hours, using specialised paired-donation software and extensive immunological testing; the unprecedented nature of the exchange also required an appeal before Delhi High Court for regulatory approval. All four recipients have been discharged and are recovering well.

Press freedom groups question device seizures in Ravi Nair FIR case
By Pragadish Kirubakaran, Meena R. Prashant in Media News on Wednesday, 19th August 2026 at 3:33pm
Gujarat Police searched the Delhi residence of independent journalist Ravi Nair on Monday, August 17, in connection with an FIR filed in Ahmedabad over his reporting and social media posts on the Adani Group. Nair was not home when the search was conducted; Delhi Police personnel accompanied the Gujarat team.
According to a colleague of Nair's who was present at the residence with his son, police seized three laptops, two phones and an iPad. It was also reported that some of the devices belonged to her and to Nair's son, neither of whom is named as an accused in the case.
A senior Gujarat Police official said the devices were seized as part of the investigation, citing an August 11 Gujarat High Court order and a warrant issued by an Ahmedabad magistrate's court, The Indian Express reported.
The FIR, registered by the Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch on May 29, relates to an October 2025 article in The Washington Post and posts by Nair on X concerning alleged investments by

Swans scandal escalates as AFL weighs bans amid police probe
The alleged sexual assault matter involving Sydney Swans players has intensified, with the club interviewing players and the AFL publicly signalling potential stand-downs or suspensions even as a police investigation continues. Beyond the immediate legal process, the story is forcing a broader reckoning over player conduct, victim support and whether the AFL should adopt a tougher “no-fault” approach during investigations—right as finals loom. Rent shock politics: warnings of big hikes collide with government’s housing tax defence

By Pavithra A in Media News on Tuesday, 18th August 2026 at 9:15pm
The Karnataka Working Journalists’ Union (KUWJ) honoured veteran newspaper distributor Ravindranath for his 45 years of service during an Independence Day ceremony at Navarang Circle.
Ravindranath, a familiar face in the area, has ensured newspapers reach readers daily since the era when publications cost just a few paise. Over the decades, he transitioned from distributor to agent and now dealer for several newspapers, including Udayavani and Vishwavani.
Reflecting on his journey, he said: “I started working as a newspaper distributor about 45 years ago, when newspapers cost around 15 to 20 paise. Being recognised by KUWJ is an honour.”
He also voiced concern over the declining readership of physical newspapers, noting that circulation dropped sharply after the COVID‑19 pandemic as younger audiences turned to social media. “Newspaper reading encourages patience and develops good reading habits. Young people should make it a regular practice,” he ad
Estranged tech bros: What success cost Atlassian’s founders
By Nigel Bowen in Media News on Wednesday, 19th August 2026 at 7:30am
The Australian’s John Stensholt and Perry Williams spent last summer writing a 300-page book about Atlassian's founders. They came away admiring what Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar built but wondering what it cost them.
Here’s Williams on the credit side of the ledger.
"Two guys in their early 20s create this company from scratch in a share house in Glebe," he says, "and employ thousands of people in Australia. They've inspired a whole startup community – other companies [such as] Canva, SafetyCulture – these are almost becoming household names as well. So, look, I take my hat off to them."
Stensholt is equally unequivocal. "What they've achieved in a business sense is amazing," he says. "They are two of the best entrepreneurs that Australia has had for a long, long time, probably the best tech entrepreneurs in terms of what they've achieved."
Williams, who spent years on the energy beat, adds
