Organisers praised the enthusiastic participation of women journalists. The Press Club will host a special Women’s Day programme on March 8, 2026, at 3 pm, featuring dance, music, games, speeches, an exhibition, and prize distribution. Senior journalists, film artists, political leaders, government officials and activists are expected to attend, with all journalists and their families invited.

News of his death on March 4 spread across newsrooms around the country, creating a deep sense of loss among journalists who regarded him as an institution and a pillar of the press. Colleagues and younger journalists who had the opportunity to work with him remember Dua as a principled editor who stood firmly by his convictions and upheld the highest standards of journalism. A Padma Bhushan awardee, H K Dua was among the longest serving editors in Indian journalism. Over a career spanning more than five decades, he held some of the most influential editorial positions in the country. Basically, three words sum it up: Violence, harassment and slut shaming. While journalists of all genders are targeted regularly in social media, senior journalist Neha Dixit points out that when a woman journalist is involved it "immediately becomes a physical or a sexual threat". She goes on to add that when a male journalist writes a critical story, he is branded as "paid or corrupt" but when a woman is involved, she is called a "slut or prostitute". The All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) began its annual sports meet on March 2 with a torch relay from the Manipur Press Club to Kangla, where the ceremonial flame was lit at the historic coronation site. RIMS Director Dr. Guruaribam Sunil Kumar Sharma led the relay and, addressing journalists, highlighted the media’s role in strengthening democracy and raising awareness on health issues such as rising non‑communicable diseases and organ donation shortages. Held since 2011 during Yaoshang, the five‑day event promotes sportsmanship and camaraderie among journalists, India Today reported.
