Telangana govt restricts ‘Press’ stickers on vehicles to accredited journalists
By Staff Writer in Media News on Wednesday, 28th January 2026 at 1:03pm
The Telangana government has issued orders restricting the display of “Press” stickers on vehicles exclusively to journalists holding valid accreditation cards issued by the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department, in a move aimed at curbing misuse and impersonation.
The decision is part of revised guidelines governing the issuance of accreditation cards and the regulation of press identification practices.
According to the orders, any unauthorised use of the “Press” sticker or logo will be treated as impersonation and will invite strict legal action. The guidelines also make it clear that “Press” markings must not be displayed on vehicle registration plates under any circumstances.
The government has also withdrawn its earlier policy of issuing separate “media cards” to journalists working at editorial desks. Under the revised rules, desk journalists will now be covered under the same accreditation system as field reporters.

“It doesn't seem long ago that I walked into my cadet job on PC Week in January 1996 and met the likes of Simon Sharwood, John Davidson, David Braue, and Kerrie Murphy.”
Gliddon was first alerted to PC Week while working in PR at Blackie McDonald when account director Alan Jones directed him to the job advert.
“[Alan] called me into his office and said, ‘Mate, you should apply for this’... so it was then a matter of printing off a couple of stories I’d written and an application letter, sending it by post to the Consolidated Press offices.
