Support of the Container Deposit Scheme in Victoria

Announcement posted by Plastic Waste Solutions 07 Mar 2012

Victorian parliament has a bill before it to introduce a container deposit scheme. This would eliminate 80% of the litter of plastic bottles in the state. It has no cost to tax payers nor consumers who redeem their bottles. No cost to government and it would generate a number of jobs in the recycle collection centres. The bottling companies oppose this and are lobbying hard to make the bill fail. The state Premier supported such a bill when he was in opposition. Now that they are in power, he said will not support it. We need this bill to prevent all this litter bottles are making, to save valuable resources that are now going to landfills and lost and to help the economy out.
