Eric Johnston from The Australian reported that his Muskiness announced on an earnings call that he was launching his “Optimus Subprime” project. Musk had already unveiled the robot last year, but gave further details, revealing that it was being targeted for production next year. He said the robots would be used for mundane tasks like shifting parts around factories. I don’t even have the slightest bit of confidence he’ll manage that given how far off we are when it comes to driverless cars.
