Police have arrested Sadath, another accused in the murder of ABN Andhra Jyothi reporter Jaganmohan Reddy in V. Kota Mandal of Andhra Pradesh's Chithoor district. He has been remanded to judicial custody. Earlier, two other alleged assailants, Tameem and Subhan, were arrested in the case. Police have also recently remanded the alleged masterminds, Srinivasulu and Doraswamy. According to police investigation, Sadath, the owner of Bharat Cinema Theater in V. Kota, was allegedly involved in planning the murder. Investigators said he had a long-standing land dispute with a local YSRCP leader and allegedly blamed Jaganmohan Reddy for supporting his rival. Chamarajanagar MLA C. Puttarangashetty has donated Rs 5 lakh to the District Journalists' Welfare Fund, taking the fund's total corpus to Rs 11 lakh. The cheque was handed over to District Working Journalists' Association President Siddalingaswamy during the Karnataka Press Day celebrations held on July 1, in the presence of Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) State President Shivananda Tagaduru. Accredited journalists in Odisha have opposed a new Home Department rule requiring a separate entry pass to access Lok Seva Bhavan, the state secretariat in Bhubaneswar. Previously, accreditation cards issued after government verification were sufficient for entry. Under the new rule, journalists must additionally apply for an annual pass from the Home Department. "When the Mohan Charan Majhi government came to power, many of the restrictions imposed by the previous government were withdrawn. Now, a fresh rule requiring accredited journalists to obtain another pass from the Home Department has been introduced," said Prasanna Kumar Mohanty, senior journalist and Odisha Union of Journalists president. An emergency meeting of accredited journalists at the Press Club of Odisha on Sunday resulted in unanimous opposition to the rule.
